Indonesia and Azerbaijan Emphasize Strengthening Connectivity and People-to-People Ties

Baku, The Gulf Observer: In a bilateral meeting between Fadli Zon, Chairperson of the Committee for Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation (BKSAP) of the House of Representatives (DPR) of Indonesia, and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, the focus was placed on enhancing connectivity and people-to-people connections between the two nations.
Chairperson Fadli Zon underscored the existing strength in relations between Indonesia and Azerbaijan but emphasized the need for an increased level of connectivity and people-to-people interactions. He highlighted the importance of bolstering ties in social, cultural, economic, and other strategic dimensions.
During the discussions, Zon particularly emphasized the untapped potential for tourism cooperation. Indonesia, being the largest archipelagic country globally, offers a wealth of tourism opportunities. Strengthening this aspect of cooperation could significantly contribute to the deepening of bilateral relations.
As one of the initiators of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), Indonesia holds a distinctive position in the international arena, advocating for nations committed to peace and maintaining an independent foreign policy. Zon emphasized that Indonesia serves as a role model for countries aspiring to be free and active in their foreign policy.
Zon also acknowledged the positive strides made through the Bilateral Cooperation Group (GKSB) of the DPR-Parliament of Azerbaijan, considering it as a foundation for fortifying the overall bilateral cooperation framework. The objective is to achieve common goals that benefit both nations.
Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov welcomed the potential for collaboration, particularly in the tourism sector. He congratulated Indonesia for successfully conducting its elections, highlighting that this democratic process would further strengthen bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Indonesia in the era of Indonesia’s new leadership.
The discussions concluded with both parties expressing optimism about the future of the Indonesia-Azerbaijan partnership, with a commitment to implementing measures that will foster increased connectivity and people-to-people ties, ultimately contributing to the mutual benefit of both nations.
