Indonesia and China Reinforce Cooperation Commitment at Vice Presidential Meeting

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka reaffirmed Indonesia’s dedication to strengthening cooperation with China during a meeting with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng at the Vice President’s Palace in Jakarta on Monday.
At the meeting, Han Zheng extended his congratulations to Gibran on his recent inauguration as vice president and emphasized that the newly formed Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka government will continue the robust cooperation established between Indonesia and China. “What is clear is that Mr. Prabowo’s government will commit to continuing what has been done. Thank you for the support, including in the high-speed rail development,” he stated.
Vice President Han responded positively, expressing optimism about the strong cooperative relations between the two nations. He conveyed the Chinese government’s belief that Indonesia’s new administration would uphold the longstanding tradition of friendship between the two countries.
During the meeting, Han remarked that following the April 2024 meeting between President Prabowo and President Xi Jinping, there has been proactive engagement with relevant Chinese departments to follow up on future cooperation plans.
Han expressed confidence that the strengthened ties between China and Indonesia would not only benefit both nations but also contribute positively to regional and international prosperity. As the two countries prepare to celebrate the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic ties in 2025, Vice President Gibran and Vice President Han emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in economic development and human resources capacity.
The meeting follows the inauguration of Prabowo and Gibran as President and Vice President on October 20, after their victory in the 2024 Presidential Election held in February. The inauguration event, held at the Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta, was attended by various state guests, including Chinese Vice President Han Zheng.
