Indonesia and Saudi Arabia Discuss Preparations for 2025 Hajj Pilgrimage

Jeddah, The Gulf Observer: Indonesia’s Minister of Religious Affairs, Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, visited the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in Jeddah on Sunday to discuss preparations for the 2025 Hajj season. The meeting, held with Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, focused on enhancing services for Indonesian pilgrims and ensuring smooth logistical arrangements for the upcoming pilgrimage.
According to a statement from Indonesian ministry spokesperson Sunanto, both ministers reviewed preliminary plans to improve the Hajj experience for Indonesian pilgrims. Al-Rabiah assured Qoumas that Saudi authorities are committed to upgrading facilities and services for the 2025 season.
Al-Rabiah also praised Indonesia’s cooperation during the 2024 Hajj season, noting that Minister Qoumas demonstrated excellent coordination with Saudi authorities. This collaboration contributed to the success of the 2024 pilgrimage, a testament to the strong partnership between the two nations.
Indonesia’s Hajj quota for 2025 has been set at 221,000, as announced during the 2024 Hajj closing ceremony in June. The Indonesian government is currently in the initial stages of planning, focusing on accommodations, meal packages, and airline services for its pilgrims. Final preparations are expected to be completed by October, with service contracts scheduled for signing in January 2025. Indonesian pilgrims are set to begin arriving in Saudi Arabia by late April 2025.
