Indonesia and Turkiye Strengthen Economic and Strategic Ties

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesia and Turkiye have agreed to finalize the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and expand market access for products from both nations, President Prabowo Subianto announced on Wednesday.
Speaking at a bilateral meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, President Prabowo emphasized the commitment of both countries to boosting trade for mutual benefit.
“We are committed to increasing trade with mutual benefit for both countries, also accelerating the finalization of the CEPA agreement. We have agreed to expand market access for products from both countries,” Prabowo stated.
The partnership between Indonesia and Turkiye prioritizes the prosperity of their peoples and a better world order to support global peace and stability, he added.
During Erdogan’s state visit to Indonesia, the two leaders also participated in the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) meeting, underscoring the robust diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations.
According to President Prabowo, the bilateral discussions and the HLSCC meeting reflect the strength of Indonesia-Turkiye relations. “On Wednesday, we also held the first High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council Meeting. Once again, thank you. Indonesia does not have many regular bilateral mechanisms at the head of state level,” he remarked.
The meeting was attended by key officials from Indonesia, including Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Pratikno; Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono; Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment, Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar; Coordinating Minister for Food, Zulkifli Hasan; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sugiono; and Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi. Indonesian Ambassador to Turkiye, Achmad Rizal Purnama, was also present.
Erdogan arrived in Jakarta on Tuesday evening, accompanied by Turkish First Lady Emine Erdogan and a high-level delegation. President Prabowo welcomed them at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base before escorting them to their accommodation at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Kuningan, South Jakarta.
This development further cements the long-standing diplomatic and economic ties between Indonesia and Turkiye, paving the way for enhanced cooperation in trade and strategic partnerships.
