Indonesia Dispatches Third Phase of Humanitarian Aid to Earthquake-Stricken Myanmar

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: The Indonesian government, on Thursday, dispatched the third phase of humanitarian assistance to Myanmar, following the devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck the country last week.
The aid package, weighing 124 tons and valued at Rp20.89 billion, includes ready-to-eat meals, medicines, health equipment, blankets, emergency tents, and other essential supplies.
“As instructed by Mr. President, Indonesia sends its assistance to our brothers and sisters in Myanmar. This is also part of the aid we sent on March 31,” stated Foreign Minister Sugiono, who represented President Prabowo Subianto at the send-off ceremony held at Jakarta’s Halim Perdanakusuma Airfield.
Sugiono emphasized the importance of safety and efficient coordination with local authorities to ensure the humanitarian mission’s success. During the ceremony, he personally inspected the prepared logistics and greeted the officers joining the mission.
The assistance was sourced from various government agencies and humanitarian organizations, including the Agriculture Ministry, Health Ministry, National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), Indonesian Red Cross, National Alms Agency (Baznas), and private humanitarian organizations.
Two cargo planes transported the 124-ton aid, while 65 Indonesian personnel assigned to the mission traveled aboard a chartered Garuda Indonesia 747 jumbo jet. The flights will make a stopover in Banda Aceh before continuing to Naypyidaw, Myanmar’s capital.
This latest aid shipment follows the initial 12-ton emergency aid delivered on March 31 via an Indonesian Air Force C-130J-30 Super Hercules aircraft. A second shipment, dispatched on April 1, included utility tents, blankets, sarongs, and ready-to-eat meals from the Defense Ministry, as well as additional logistics from BNPB and an operational truck from the National SAR Agency (Basarnas).
Also accompanying the April 1 aid flight were 39 personnel from multiple ministries and agencies, forming an advance team to support relief efforts in Myanmar.
The Indonesian government reaffirms its commitment to supporting Myanmar in these challenging times, underscoring regional solidarity and humanitarian cooperation.
