Uzbekistan’s President Holds Informal Meeting with European Council President

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: On April 2, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held an informal meeting with the President of the European Council, António Costa.
The high-level EU representative arrived in Uzbekistan earlier in the day and visited the historic city of Bukhara, where he explored the country’s rich cultural and historical heritage.
During their meeting, the two leaders exchanged views on pressing issues related to the bilateral and regional agenda. Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union, as well as addressing key regional developments.
A central topic of discussion was the preparation for the upcoming first summit in the “Central Asia – European Union” format. Both sides emphasized the importance of fostering deeper political, economic, and security cooperation to address shared challenges and opportunities in the region.
The informal dialogue between the leaders reflects the growing engagement between Uzbekistan and the European Union, underscoring a commitment to expanding partnership across multiple spheres.
