Indonesia Surpasses 2025 Target for Overseas Worker Placements

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesia has exceeded its 2025 target for overseas worker placements, with over 286,000 Indonesians deployed abroad by mid-December, Minister for the Protection of Migrant Workers Mukhtarudin announced on Thursday.
According to data from the Computerized System for the Placement and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (SISKOP2MI), 286,422 workers had been placed as of December 15, reaching 110.5 percent of the annual target of 259,144.
Domestic work led the placements at 36.5 percent, followed by healthcare at 20.6 percent and manufacturing at 14.1 percent. Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Malaysia remain the top destination markets for Indonesian migrant workers.
Remittances from Indonesian overseas workers reached Rp212 trillion (US$13.6 billion) through the third quarter of 2025, marking a 38.6 percent increase from Rp153 trillion in 2024, according to Bank Indonesia.
The ministry has also provided Rp70.65 billion in subsidized microcredit to 2,382 beneficiaries under the government-backed People’s Business Credit (KUR) program, launched in August, offering loans of up to Rp100 million to support worker placement services.
In addition, authorities blocked 6,525 prospective undocumented workers from leaving Indonesia between January 1 and December 14, strengthening checks at border ports in North Kalimantan, the Riau Islands, and West Kalimantan.
To further ensure safe migration, Indonesia is implementing its “Golden Migrant Village” program in 70 villages across six provinces to expand access to information and services for prospective migrant workers.
“Migrant worker safety is our top priority,” Minister Mukhtarudin said, highlighting the government’s commitment to protecting Indonesians abroad.
