Indonesia to Connect 300,000 Schools to Internet by 2025 as Part of Education Digitalization Drive

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has announced plans to bring internet access to 300,000 schools across the country by the end of 2025, as part of the government’s broader agenda to digitalize education and strengthen human resource development through digital learning.
“The goal is for 300,000 schools to have internet access this year. If we find any areas without service, we will solve the problem,” said Gogot Suharwoto, Director General of Early Childhood, Primary, and Secondary Education, in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Suharwoto emphasized that digital learning requires more than connectivity alone. He noted that the initiative aims to transform classrooms into fully digitalized environments equipped with internet-enabled devices, interactive whiteboards, and computers. The program also includes the provision of digital learning content and teacher training.
To achieve this, the ministry is partnering with private sector companies to enhance teachers’ digital skills, including training in coding and artificial intelligence. Currently, 3,500 pieces of digital education content have been prepared for distribution to participating schools.
The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to modernizing the education system and preparing students to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
