Indonesia, UAE Explore Strengthening Economic Partnership
Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati and UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei held discussions on enhancing bilateral economic cooperation, focusing on key sectors such as defense, education digitization, sustainable finance, energy, and infrastructure.
As cited from her Instagram post (@smindrawati) on Friday, Indrawati received the Emirati minister at her office in Jakarta on Thursday (January 30) afternoon.
During the meeting, Indrawati highlighted that strengthening partnerships in these sectors is essential for stimulating economic growth and reducing unemployment in Indonesia. She noted that such collaborations align with President Prabowo Subianto’s vision, which prioritizes energy security, human capital development, and the reinforcement of defense and security sectors.
Expressing optimism about future cooperation, she underscored the potential for Indonesia and the UAE to build on their strong economic ties.
On the same day, Indrawati also met with Manuela V. Ferro, Vice President of the World Bank for East Asia and the Pacific.
In her discussions with Ferro, she proposed updating the Indonesia Country Partnership Framework (CPF), emphasizing its importance in aligning Indonesia’s development goals with the World Bank’s strategic objectives. She noted that an updated CPF would help both parties navigate geopolitical shifts, domestic political dynamics, and socio-economic challenges.
“Most importantly, we must ensure that a large democracy like Indonesia continues to progress in line with principles of inclusiveness and participation to achieve various development objectives,” Indrawati stated.
