Indonesia's Defense University Upholds Global Standards: Prabowo Subianto

Bogor, The Gulf Observer: Indonesia’s Defense University (Unhan) has been setting benchmarks comparable to those of the world’s most prestigious educational institutions, according to Defense Minister and President-elect Prabowo Subianto. Speaking at a graduation ceremony in Bogor District, West Java, on Saturday, Prabowo highlighted the university’s commitment to academic excellence.

“We are applying high-level standards. For our undergraduate programs, we use standards similar to those adopted by renowned global universities,” Prabowo remarked.

He emphasized that Unhan’s graduates represent some of Indonesia’s brightest talents, selected through a rigorous and fair admission process. The university, he noted, offers equal opportunities to all aspiring students, irrespective of their financial background or religious beliefs.

“This university is committed to selecting students without considering their parents’ financial status, religion, ethnicity, or other backgrounds. We opened undergraduate programs with the sole objective of selecting the nation’s best sons and daughters,” Prabowo said.

As he prepares to assume the presidency on October 20, Prabowo expressed his appreciation to Unhan’s current Rector, Lt. Gen. Jonni Mahroza, and his predecessors for their dedication to transforming the university into a top-tier institution.

Prabowo also underscored the critical importance of mastering science and technology for the nation’s future. “Our survival as a nation does and will depend on the mastery of science and technology,” he stressed.

Additionally, Prabowo revealed that President Joko Widodo had tasked him with establishing educational facilities in Indonesia’s frontier regions, including Papua, to further enhance access to quality education across the country.
