Interactive Dialogue Highlights Role of Women Diplomats in Turkmenistan

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: An interactive dialogue titled “The Role of Women Diplomats in Society and Their Achievements” was held on March 10, 2026, at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan as part of the Second Training Seminar for Young Diplomats and Civil Servants of Central Asia.
The event was organized in cooperation with the Office of the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan and brought together representatives of foreign embassies and international organizations accredited in Turkmenistan, female staff members of international institutions, officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, women faculty members of the institute, and female students.
Among the speakers at the event were Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Mähri Bäşimowa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Palestine to Turkmenistan Rana Abu Hijleh, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Turkmenistan Faryal Leghari, UNDP Resident Representative in Turkmenistan Narine Saakyan, and Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO Chynar Rustemova.
In their remarks, speakers highlighted the significance of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality policy, emphasizing its role in promoting peaceful initiatives and fostering constructive dialogue in international relations. They noted that the principle “Dialogue is the Guarantee of Peace,” pursued under the framework of neutrality, strengthens the role of women in diplomacy and supports their initiatives aimed at maintaining peace in the region.
Participants also stressed that the active participation and leadership of women in public administration and international cooperation contribute directly to global sustainable development.
The dialogue, held within the framework of the second training seminar for young diplomats and civil servants of Central Asia, provided a valuable platform for enhancing the professional experience of young specialists and once again highlighted the important role of women in the peace-oriented diplomacy of neutral Turkmenistan.
