International Culinary Competition “Cupid’s Spoon” to Showcase Abilities of People with Disabilities

International Culinary Competition

Sofia, The Gulf Observer: The international culinary competition “Cupid’s Spoon” will take place for the third consecutive year on March 25, 2025, in front of the Hilton Sofia Hotel. The event aims to highlight the skills and capabilities of people with disabilities, proving that with proper opportunities and support, they can successfully manage various everyday tasks.

Participants will compete in two categories: “Cooking” and “Cocktails”. The winners of the Sofia round will earn the opportunity to travel to Zagreb for a seven-day training experience led by renowned chefs. There, they will compete in the final stage of the event against winners from 31 countries.

For the third year, young individuals with intellectual disabilities supported by the Cedar Foundation will participate in the competition. Notably, in 2024, Stefcho, a resident of the Foundation’s Sheltered Housing, secured first place for Bulgaria in the “Cooking” category and progressed to the final round in Zagreb. During his stay, he received eight days of professional training and, along with other participants, had the unique opportunity to visit the Vatican and meet the Pope.

The event not only aims to showcase culinary talents but also to promote inclusion and empowerment for individuals with disabilities, inspiring others to recognize their potential and contributions to society.
