Iran Calls for Inclusive Climate Collaboration at COP29 in Baku

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Iran’s Head of the Department of Environment, Shina Ansari, underscored the importance of addressing environmental concerns beyond political barriers, emphasizing that global climate efforts require the participation of all nations. Her remarks came during a meeting with Simon Stiell, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), on the sidelines of COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

During the discussion, Ansari highlighted the challenges Iran faces due to international sanctions, describing them as an impediment to Iran’s full engagement in environmental initiatives. She argued that addressing climate change effectively necessitates fair access to resources and technology for every country, including Iran.

Stiell expressed support for Ansari’s perspective, stating that Iran should be able to access essential technologies and mechanisms to combat climate change. The ongoing COP29 conference, running from November 11-22, provides a platform for nations to discuss and negotiate policies on global environmental challenges.

COP29 represents an opportunity for inclusive discourse, bringing countries together to address shared climate goals and foster a cooperative approach toward sustainable development worldwide.
