Iran, China Sign Agreement to Cooperate on Renewable Energy Inverter Production and Technology Transfer

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iran and China have entered a new phase of cooperation in the renewable energy sector with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at joint production of inverters and the transfer of related technical knowledge to Iran.
The agreement, signed on Monday evening between an Iranian knowledge-based company and a Chinese enterprise, marks a significant step toward advancing Iran’s renewable energy infrastructure and developing domestic expertise in high-tech manufacturing.
According to the Iranian Government, the MoU was concluded with the collaboration of the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance, and the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade. The initiative will enable, for the first time, domestic production and knowledge transfer of inverter technology — a key component in renewable energy systems such as solar and wind power.
As part of the agreement, the Chinese company will invest approximately $150 million in Iran to support the establishment of production lines and the creation of a technological ecosystem supporting renewable industries.
Officials noted that this cooperation represents a major stride toward Iran’s goal of achieving greater self-sufficiency in renewable energy technologies, fostering industrial innovation, and strengthening bilateral economic and technological relations with China.
The project is expected to lay the groundwork for localized manufacturing, training of Iranian specialists, and expansion of clean energy infrastructure, contributing to the country’s broader strategy for sustainable and low-carbon development.
