Iran Crowned World Champion at 2025 Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Lima

Lima, The Gulf Observer: Iran’s junior and youth weightlifting teams have achieved an outstanding victory at the 2025 World Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships held in Lima, Peru, securing the title of World Champions with an impressive haul of 10 gold, 9 silver, and 5 bronze medals.
The Iranian athletes delivered remarkable performances across various weight categories, demonstrating the country’s continued excellence and depth in the sport.
In the women’s junior 64kg category, Alma Hosseini earned a silver medal in the clean and jerk with a lift of 111 kilograms and secured bronze in the total lift with 197 kilograms, marking a significant achievement in the women’s division.
In the men’s 81kg weight class, Ilya Salehipour captured a bronze medal in the clean and jerk with a 195-kilogram lift.
The 96kg category saw a strong showing by Amirhossein Sepah and Hamidreza Zareie, who collectively garnered four medals. Zareie clinched gold in the clean and jerk (203kg) and silver in the snatch, contributing significantly to Iran’s medal count.
In the 102kg category, Abolfazl Zare stood out with a gold medal in the snatch, lifting 176 kilograms.
Dominating the +102kg category, Hossein Yazdani secured a bronze medal in the snatch (144kg) and went on to become champion in both the clean and jerk and total lift, showcasing exceptional strength and technique.
In the youth division, Alireza Nasiri emerged as the champion in the 109kg category, while Farhad Gholizadeh claimed gold in the clean and jerk with a lift of 205 kilograms.
