Iran Promises "Decisive Response" to Israeli Assassination of Hamas Leader

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iran’s Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani has vowed a “decisive response” to Israel following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the political leader of Hamas, on Iranian soil.

Bagheri made the statement during a visit to Hamas’ office in Tehran on Monday evening. During the visit, he met with Khaled Qaddoumi, Hamas’s representative to Iran, and paid tribute to Haniyeh, who was killed in an Israeli operation in Tehran last week.

In his remarks, Bagheri emphasized that while Haniyeh’s death represents a significant loss for the resistance movement, it has ultimately bolstered the resistance front across the region. He asserted that Iran reserves the right under international law to take appropriate measures to protect its national security and sovereignty in response to the act of aggression.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran will deliver a decisive and effective response to this criminal act by the Zionist regime,” Bagheri stated.

Earlier on Tuesday, Bagheri addressed the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament, where he briefed lawmakers on Tehran’s planned response to the Israeli aggression. Ebrahim Rezaei, the commission’s spokesman, reported that Bagheri assured lawmakers that the Foreign Ministry would employ all political, legal, and public diplomacy resources to address Haniyeh’s assassination on the international stage.
