Iran Ranked Among World’s Top 20 Tourism Destinations by UN Tourism Report

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iran has been ranked among the world’s top 20 tourism destinations, according to a recent report by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), marking a significant milestone for the country’s tourism sector.
Announcing the development on Wednesday, Deputy Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts, Anoushiravan Mohseni-Bandpei, stated that the recognition reflects the maturity of Iran’s tourism policymaking, the resilience of its tourism industry, and the effectiveness of its public diplomacy initiatives, including the promotion of the official “Visit Iran” website.
Citing data from the UN Tourism report, Mohseni-Bandpei noted that Iran achieved this ranking based on performance prior to the recent 12-day conflict with the Israeli regime. During that period, Iran demonstrated the best regional performance in attracting international tourists, emerging as a model of stability, diversity, and cultural appeal in the region.
“This ranking is not only a testament to Iran’s tourism potential but also the result of coordinated efforts in smart policy design, public-private collaboration, infrastructure enhancement, and the successful projection of Iran’s authentic image to the world,” he said.
Despite recent geopolitical and economic challenges, Mohseni-Bandpei expressed optimism that Iran’s global tourism standing could further improve in the near future, reaffirming the government’s commitment to strengthening the tourism sector as a driver of economic growth and cultural exchange.
