Iran Reaffirms Support for Gaza Ceasefire and Calls for Accountability

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran on Thursday reaffirmed its support for any initiative aimed at ending the war and ongoing genocide in Gaza, while emphasizing the need to remain vigilant against breaches of commitments by the Israeli regime.
In an official statement, the Ministry reiterated Iran’s backing for measures ensuring the withdrawal of occupying forces, the delivery of humanitarian aid, the release of Palestinian prisoners, and the restoration of Palestinians’ fundamental rights.
The statement recalled Iran’s previous declarations on ending the Gaza conflict and highlighted its diplomatic efforts over the past two years—particularly within the region, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the United Nations—to pressure Israel and its allies to cease violence and withdraw from Gaza.
Paying tribute to the martyrs of the Resistance, Iran called on the international community to prevent further violations and urged all parties to remain alert to Israel’s potential deception and breaches of promises.
The Ministry stressed that ending the crimes and genocide in Gaza does not relieve governments and international institutions of their legal, humanitarian, and moral responsibilities to pursue justice. It underscored the necessity of identifying and prosecuting those responsible for war crimes, genocide, and crimes against humanity in Gaza, aiming to end decades of impunity for the Israeli regime.
Earlier on Thursday, October 9, 2025, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) officially announced a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement, which has since come into effect.
