Iranian Ambassador Injured in Explosions Targeting Pager Devices in Lebanon

Beirut, The Gulf Observer: Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, sustained minor injuries following a series of explosions targeting pager devices held by Hezbollah members and their affiliates, according to reports from the Lebanon-based Al-Mayadeen news channel.
The explosions occurred on Tuesday in Beirut and southern Lebanon, with Hezbollah officials describing the incident as the “biggest security breach” the group has faced in nearly a year. Ambassador Amani was transferred to a hospital for treatment following the blasts. However, later reports confirmed that Amani’s condition was stable, and the Iranian embassy in Beirut reassured the public via a post on X (formerly Twitter) that the ambassador was well. His wife, Narges Ghadirian, also confirmed via her X account that the ambassador was unharmed during the explosions.
The blasts, which began at approximately 3:45 pm local time and lasted about an hour, affected over 1,000 people, including Hezbollah members and medics. Victims suffered injuries to their face, eyes, and limbs from the explosions, which occurred while they were holding the pagers used for communication.
The explosions represent the latest in a string of security attacks targeting Hezbollah since October last year, when the group launched operations in northern Israel in response to the conflict in Gaza. Hezbollah, in a statement on Tuesday, confirmed that it had retaliated by deploying drones and missiles to strike Israeli military positions in five locations across northern Israeli-occupied territories.
Security sources indicated that the incident marked a significant escalation in the ongoing hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel, raising concerns about further destabilization in the region.
