Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam Calls on Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz to Discuss Iran-Pakistan Relations

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam of the Islamic Republic of Iran held a high-level meeting with H.E. Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, President of the Pakistan Muslim League (N), and H.E. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to exchange views on the latest regional developments and avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation between Iran and Pakistan.
During the meeting, the discussion focused on recent interventions by the United States and the Israeli regime, including their interventionist positions, threats, and escalatory rhetoric. Ambassador Moghadam highlighted Iran’s firm commitment to strengthening relations with Pakistan and expressed appreciation for the principled positions and continued support of the Government of Pakistan toward Iran in various regional and international arenas.
The Ambassador also acknowledged the efforts of H.E. Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H.E. Muhammad Ishaq Dar in promoting comprehensive cooperation between the two neighboring countries. While reaffirming Iran’s readiness to defend itself against any imminent threats, he emphasized Tehran’s determination to pursue fair and constructive negotiations to resolve outstanding issues through dialogue, mutual respect, and adherence to international norms.
Ambassador Moghadam further underscored the historical and enduring bond between Iran and Pakistan, noting that “both nations are like two bodies and one soul, consistently demonstrating their love, commitment, and brotherhood over time.”
In response, H.E. Nawaz Sharif expressed concern over recent regional developments and potential threats. He emphasized the importance of constructive negotiations based on mutual respect and equality, in line with international law and the United Nations Charter. He further noted that dialogue, diplomacy, and the protection of national sovereignty, alongside the rejection of any threat or use of force, remain essential for promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
