Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi Meets Chinese President Xi Jinping Ahead of S.C.O. Ministerial Summit

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi met with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday morning in Beijing, ahead of the 25th Summit of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (S.C.O.).
Araqchi, who arrived in the Chinese capital on Monday with an accompanying delegation, held a brief bilateral meeting with President Xi prior to joining a broader session attended by foreign ministers from all S.C.O. member states.
The visit comes at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and underscores the growing diplomatic engagement between Iran and China within multilateral platforms such as the S.C.O.
During his stay, Araqchi is also scheduled to hold separate talks with Foreign Minister Wang and several of his regional counterparts on the sidelines of the ministerial summit. Discussions are expected to focus on recent regional and international developments, as well as on strengthening cooperation within the S.C.O. framework.
Araqchi will use the occasion to present Iran’s perspectives on pressing geopolitical issues and reaffirm Tehran’s commitment to the principles and objectives of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
