Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a meeting with his French counterpart, Jean-Noel Barrot, in Paris on Wednesday, where the two diplomats discussed a wide range of regional and international issues, as well as bilateral relations between Tehran and Paris.

According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, the ministers conducted an in-depth review of developments in the West Asian region, the conflict in Ukraine, the broader international security environment, and Iran’s peaceful nuclear programme. Both sides emphasized the need for responsible and constructive efforts to de-escalate tensions and promote international peace, stability, and justice.

The meeting also addressed Iran–France bilateral ties, with the foreign ministers underscoring the importance of sustained consultations aimed at removing existing obstacles and facilitating the expansion of cooperation across various fields.

Araghchi reiterated Iran’s commitment to advancing dialogue and enhancing mutual understanding, noting that regular diplomatic engagement remains essential for strengthening relations.

During the talks, the Iranian foreign minister also referred to the case of Iranian citizen Mahdieh Esfandiari, whose arrest in France Tehran has described as unjustified. Araghchi welcomed the French authorities’ decision to release her on parole and urged the acceleration of legal procedures to ensure her full acquittal and release, enabling her return to Iran.
