Iran’s Foreign Minister Araghchi Stresses Diplomacy as Only Path

Path

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reaffirmed the centrality of diplomacy in addressing international disputes, stressing that despite recent acts of military aggression against Iran—regarded by Tehran as an attack on diplomatic channels—negotiation remains the only viable path forward.

Speaking on Sunday at a conference titled International Law Under Assault: Aggression and Defense, Araghchi said the recent military strikes against Iran failed to achieve their intended objectives, particularly concerning the country’s nuclear program. He emphasized that while physical facilities may be damaged, a nation’s technological capabilities and collective resolve cannot be eliminated through airstrikes.

The foreign minister noted that calls for renewed negotiations have resurfaced, as those behind the aggression came to recognize the ineffectiveness of military options. He underscored that diplomacy can only succeed when conducted within a framework of principles and standards, rejecting any form of coercion as a basis for talks.

Araghchi reiterated that Iran has never abandoned dialogue, criticizing the United States for violating its commitments by withdrawing from the 2015 nuclear agreement. He emphasized that negotiation cannot be imposed through force but must proceed from mutual interests and rational foundations.

Concluding his remarks, the minister stated that Iran remains fully prepared to engage in constructive talks, provided that conditions for fair, principled negotiations are upheld.
