Iran’s Freestyle Wrestling Team Claims First Place at U-20 Asian Championship in Kyrgyzstan

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iran’s freestyle wrestling team has emerged victorious at the U-20 Asian Championship, held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, from July 12 to 13, 2025, securing the team title with a commanding performance.
The Iranian squad topped the overall standings with a total of 179 points, outperforming strong contenders India (157 points) and Kazakhstan (133 points).
Iran’s wrestlers showcased exceptional skill and determination, earning seven medals, including four gold, two silver, and one bronze.
The gold medalists included:
- Ebrahim Elahi in the 70 kg weight category
- Mohammad-Mehdi Mamivand in 74 kg
- Abolfazl Rahmani in 86 kg
- Erfan Alizadeh in 97 kg
Silver medals were claimed by:
- Abolfazl Shamsipour in 79 kg
- Tohid Nouri in 92 kg
In addition, Arshia Haddadi secured a bronze medal in the 57 kg category.
The victory further underscores Iran’s dominance in freestyle wrestling at the youth level in Asia and reflects the country’s ongoing investment in developing future champions.
The U-20 Asian Championship brought together the continent’s most promising young athletes, with Iran’s triumph reaffirming its leading position in the regional wrestling scene.
