Iran’s Vice President Departs for Qatar to Attend Haniyeh’s Funeral

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iran’s Vice President Mohammad-Reza Aref has departed for Doha, the capital of Qatar, to attend the funeral of Chairman of the Hamas Political Bureau, Ismail Haniyeh.

Before leaving for Doha, Aref emphasized that the message of the Iranian people and the Islamic Revolution is one of solidarity with the oppressed and resistant people of Palestine, and the commitment to the liberation of the holy Quds from Zionist occupation.

Martyr Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were assassinated in Tehran on Wednesday by the Zionist regime. Haniyeh had attended the inauguration of President Masoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday before he was assassinated.

A funeral procession was held in Tehran on Thursday morning to honor him, during which the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, led a funeral prayer for Haniyeh.
