Kazakh FM Visits Kuwait to Boost Trade and Investment Ties

Kuwait City, The Gulf Observer: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu, arrived in the State of Kuwait to participate in the 3rd Ministerial Meeting of the “Central Asia – Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)” format, according to a statement from the Kazakh Foreign Ministry.

As part of his official visit, Minister Nurtleu held bilateral meetings with Waleed Al-Bahar, Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), and Imad Al-Zaid, Deputy Director General of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

During the meeting with the KFAED leadership, both sides discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in the fields of sustainable development and the financing of critical infrastructure and socially significant projects in Kazakhstan. Particular attention was given to potential collaboration in energy, water supply, and agriculture, with the aim of mobilising the Fund’s resources for future initiatives in these areas.

In his meeting with the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Minister Nurtleu and his counterpart exchanged views on enhancing bilateral trade, boosting business activity, and creating a favourable environment for increased interaction between the business communities of both nations. Key sectors discussed included the agro-industrial complex, raw materials processing, and transportation and logistics.

Minister Nurtleu also presented an overview of Kazakhstan’s investment potential and outlined government initiatives to improve the country’s investment climate. He extended an invitation to Kuwaiti investors to participate in several major development projects in Kazakhstan.

“Kazakhstan remains the leading destination for foreign direct investment in Central Asia. We are ready to provide comprehensive support to Kuwaiti investors interested in the realization of joint projects,” said Minister Nurtleu.

The Kuwaiti side expressed strong interest in organising reciprocal business delegations to explore concrete investment opportunities.

In a further demonstration of bilateral engagement, the head of KFAED confirmed his participation in the upcoming Astana International Forum, scheduled to take place on May 29–30, 2025.

Notably, Kazakhstan is set to expand its export of IT products to Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and Kuwait, signaling a growing digital and technological footprint in the Gulf and Southeast Asian markets.
