Sultan Haitham Honoured at Royal Dinner Hosted by Dutch King in Amsterdam

Amsterdam, The Gulf Observer: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of the Sultanate of Oman was honoured with an official dinner hosted by His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands and Her Majesty Queen Máxima at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam, as part of his official visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Prior to the banquet, His Majesty the Sultan exchanged greetings with distinguished guests attending the event, underscoring the warm and longstanding ties between the two nations.

During the official dinner, His Majesty Sultan Haitham delivered a speech in which he praised the enduring friendship and historical cooperation between Oman and the Netherlands. His Majesty expressed his deep appreciation for the gracious hospitality extended to him and the Omani delegation, stating:

“It is a great honor to be here in the Netherlands to celebrate the enduring friendship between our two nations. I extend my sincere gratitude for your warm hospitality and the invaluable contributions that have strengthened our partnership over the years.”

Highlighting the centuries-old maritime and trade relations, the Sultan recalled the pioneering spirit of early Dutch merchants and explorers who established initial ties with Oman in the 17th century. This historical legacy, he noted, continues today through key economic collaborations, including the Suhar Port—a joint venture between Oman’s Asyad Group and the Port of Rotterdam. His Majesty described the port as a symbol of shared maritime heritage and a model for modern innovation and cooperation.

Sultan Haitham commended Dutch leadership in clean energy and water management, noting ongoing joint initiatives in green hydrogen production and sustainable water solutions. He emphasized that these efforts align with Oman’s broader goals for sustainable development and innovation.

Beyond economic and environmental cooperation, His Majesty noted the growth of bilateral ties through political dialogue, academic collaboration, and cultural exchange. He expressed optimism for continued partnership based on shared values such as justice, multilateralism, and the rule of law.

“As we continue to uphold our common values… I am confident that our collaboration will contribute to promote peace and stability in Europe and the Middle East,” the Sultan affirmed.

In conclusion, Sultan Haitham called for deeper cooperation in addressing global challenges, particularly in reinforcing international law and ensuring collective security, urging bold action and shared responsibility to shape a better, more secure world.

The dinner marks a significant moment in the strengthening of bilateral relations between Oman and the Netherlands, reaffirming their commitment to global cooperation, sustainable development, and peace.
