Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev Awarded Jubilee Medal in Ashgabat During Official Visit
Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, currently on an official visit to Ashgabat, was honored with the jubilee medal “Magtymguly Pyragynyň 300 ýyllygyna” in recognition of the 300th anniversary of Turkmen poet Magtymguly Pyragy.
The award was presented to President Tokayev by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, during the official unveiling of a monument dedicated to the great Kazakh poet and thinker Abai Kunanbayev in Ashgabat. The event was reported by the International Information Centre (IIC).
In his congratulatory remarks, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov conveyed the decision made by Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to bestow the prestigious medal on Tokayev. The award ceremony took place in a formal and festive atmosphere.
Following the presentation, attendees of the cultural event enthusiastically chanted “Long live the Turkmen-Kazakh friendship!” as they laid flowers at the monument to Abai Kunanbayev, further symbolizing the close ties between the two nations.
This event follows the recent inauguration of the monument in honor of Abai Kunanbayev, an influential poet and thinker, marking a significant moment in the strengthening of cultural and diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.
