Kazakh Prime Minister Holds Talks in Qatar, Signs Strategic Partnership Agreement

Doha, The Gulf Observer: Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov embarked on a productive working visit to Qatar on March 20, where he engaged in discussions with Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. The talks, aimed at bolstering bilateral cooperation, emphasized the progress of existing agreements and the support of strategic investment projects across various sectors.

During the meeting, both parties underscored the significance of advancing agreements signed by the Presidents of Kazakhstan and Qatar, signaling a new phase of investment cooperation between the two nations. Prime Minister Bektenov lauded Qatar as a vital economic partner for Kazakhstan within the Arab world, emphasizing the transformative potential of recent agreements in elevating investment cooperation to unprecedented levels.

Highlighting Kazakhstan’s readiness to supply halal and organic farm products to Qatar, Prime Minister Bektenov emphasized the growing collaboration between Kazakhstani and Qatari companies in agricultural projects, underscoring the diversification of trade opportunities between the two countries.

In reciprocation, the Qatari Prime Minister expressed keen interest in further enhancing trade, economic, and investment cooperation with Kazakhstan, affirming a shared commitment to fostering mutually beneficial partnerships.

Following the fruitful discussions, the governments of Kazakhstan and Qatar formalized their commitment to long-term strategic partnership by signing an agreement aimed at fostering development across priority sectors. Notable among the ambitious investment projects outlined in the agreement are the construction of gas refineries valued at 5.7 billion US dollars and the development of key infrastructure projects such as the Aktobe-Kostanay gas pipeline and the second string of the Beineu-Bozoi-Shymkent gas pipeline, collectively worth 7.7 billion US dollars.

The signing of the strategic partnership agreement marks a significant milestone in the enduring friendship between Kazakhstan and Qatar, setting the stage for enhanced collaboration and shared prosperity across diverse economic sectors.
