Kemenkominfo releases ‘ASEANpedia’ ahead of ASEAN Summit
Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: The Ministry of Communications and Informatics (Kemenkominfo) has released an e-book entitled ASEANpedia ahead of the 43rd Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit, which will take place from September 5–7, 2023, in Jakarta.
“To strengthen the dissemination of information and the benefits of the 2023 ASEAN Indonesia chairmanship, we present ASEANpedia,” Director General of Information and Public Communication at the Ministry Usman Kansong said in a written statement issued in Jakarta on Saturday.
ASEANpedia also provides detailed information and content on the 42nd Summit, which was held in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, in May, he informed.
“We must echo matters related to the ASEAN Summit widely so that people will know more about how Indonesia plays an important role in the world’s political and economic arena,” Kansong said.
The release of ASEANpedia is one of the efforts made by Kemenkominfo in carrying out its duties and functions as a conductor of public communication and for maintaining its tradition of presenting complete, credible, fast, and up-to-date information and data.
“ASEANpedia is expected to be a trigger for the community to get involved and take a role in every international event where Indonesia is trusted as the host. At a minimum, provide support so that the event will be successful and make proud,” Kansong said.
ASEANpedia contains information and data in the form of content, news, photos, infographics, and videographics on various matters related to the 2023 ASEAN Summit in Indonesian and English languages.
ASEANpedia not only displays the substance of the meeting, but also the other side of the international event involving Southeast Asian countries.
“The information in ASEANpedia will continue to be updated according to needs and developments,” said Kansong.
He said he hopes that ASEANpedia, which can be accessed on https://s.id/aseanpedia, will not only serve as a source of information for the public, but also as a media reference regarding the series of activities organized by the 2023 ASEAN chair.
The theme for Indonesia’s ASEAN chairmanship this year is “ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth.” Indonesia wants to ensure that ASEAN is not only a regional organization that plays a role in the region, but also the world.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo will open the 43rd ASEAN Summit and preside over 12 meetings, including the 43rd Summit in plenary and retreat format, the 26th ASEAN-China Summit, the 24th ASEAN-South Korea Summit, the 26th ASEAN-Japan Summit, and the 11th ASEAN-United States (US) Summit.
Other meetings will comprise the ASEAN-Canada Summit, the 26th ASEAN Plus Three Summit, the 20th ASEAN-India Summit, the 3rd ASEAN-Australia Summit, the 18th East Asia Summit (EAS), and the 13th ASEAN-United Nations (UN) Summit.
