Kenya Kwanza Leaders Express Confidence in 2027 Re-Election Bid, Reject Rigging Allegations

Nairobi, The Gulf Observer: Senior leaders aligned with the Kenya Kwanza coalition have voiced strong confidence in President William Ruto’s re-election prospects in the upcoming 2027 general elections, while firmly rejecting allegations of election rigging.

Speaking after attending Sunday Mass at Regina Caeli Catholic Church in Karen—celebrated by Nairobi Archbishop Philip Anyolo—Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development, and Special Programmes Geoffrey Ruku reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to constitutionalism and transparent electoral processes.

“We are focused on fulfilling our promises to Kenyans. We believe that through development and service delivery, we will earn a second term,” said CS Ruku, emphasizing that the government has no intention of interfering with the democratic process.

Ruku called on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to ensure credible, verifiable, and fair elections in 2027, adding that the government stands ready to support the commission with necessary resources.

In response to a recent communiqué from Catholic bishops, Ruku—himself raised in a Catholic environment—urged continued collaboration between the Church and State in addressing national issues. “The President is working tirelessly to unite the country, grow the economy, and maintain peace. There should be no perception that government leaders are disconnected from society,” he stated, while encouraging bishops to remain partners in fostering national unity and development.

He also acknowledged the Church’s longstanding contribution to education, healthcare, and social cohesion across Kenya, underscoring the importance of its engagement in national dialogue.

Kuria West Member of Parliament Mathias Robi echoed these views, firmly refuting rigging claims made by Wajir Woman Representative Jehow Fatuma.

“In the last general election, few believed William Ruto could defeat a sitting President and a united opposition. But the IEBC delivered a credible process. We trust the same will happen in 2027,” Robi stated, adding that Parliament would uphold the Constitution and safeguard the integrity of future elections.

As political momentum begins to build ahead of the 2027 polls, the Kenya Kwanza administration is signaling its readiness to defend its record through democratic means while fostering cooperation with religious and civic institutions to advance national development.
