Leaders of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan Hold Trilateral Meeting in Avaza

Avaza, The Gulf Observer: Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ali Asadov, convened a trilateral meeting on August 5 in the Avaza National Tourist Zone, marking a significant step in regional cooperation among the three nations.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Asadov conveyed warm greetings from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Chairman Berdimuhamedov and President Mirziyoyev. The two leaders expressed their sincere appreciation and requested that their regards be extended in return to President Aliyev.

Both Berdimuhamedov and Mirziyoyev underscored Azerbaijan’s special role within the broader Central Asian community and the Consultative Council of Heads of State. They praised President Ilham Aliyev’s outstanding contributions to enhancing regional dialogue and stressed Azerbaijan’s growing significance for both Eurasia and the global community.

Chairman Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the emerging format of Central Asia–Azerbaijan cooperation has already become a practical reality, in line with current geopolitical and economic demands. He stressed the importance of institutionalizing this format and noted President Aliyev’s vision of Azerbaijan–Turkmenistan–Uzbekistan trilateral cooperation as essential to strengthening regional integration. Berdimuhamedov described the Awaza meeting as the foundation for this new and promising trilateral mechanism.

The discussions during the first trilateral meeting focused on strengthening humanitarian and cultural ties while also exploring avenues for deeper economic engagement. Priority was given to expanding strategic cooperation in transport, logistics, and energy—areas identified as crucial for fostering sustainable growth and regional connectivity.

Chairman Berdimuhamedov also highlighted a recent agreement reached with President Ilham Aliyev during his visit to Azerbaijan. The agreement includes the construction of a mosque in the Fuzuli district and the establishment of sister-city relations between Fuzuli and the city of Arkadag, reflecting the deepening of cultural and spiritual ties between the two nations.

The Awaza trilateral summit signals a new era of comprehensive cooperation among Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan, aimed at reinforcing regional solidarity and contributing to greater stability and prosperity across Eurasia.
