Leyla Aliyeva Visits Oman to Strengthen Tourism and Cultural Ties with Azerbaijan

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, visited the Sultanate of Oman at the invitation of the Omani government. Upon her arrival at Muscat International Airport, she was warmly received by Azzan bin Qassim Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of Oman’s Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism.
During her visit, Leyla Aliyeva held a meeting with Salim bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism. The discussions highlighted the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Azerbaijan and Oman, with a focus on enhancing bilateral collaboration in tourism and cultural heritage.
Leyla Aliyeva emphasized that such high-level exchanges play a vital role in further developing Azerbaijan-Oman relations. She underscored Azerbaijan’s rich historical and cultural heritage, as well as its tourism potential across health, eco, cultural, and winter tourism sectors.
The Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation briefed the Omani official on Azerbaijan’s efforts to preserve and restore historical monuments, including joint projects with UNESCO, and highlighted the importance of sharing expertise with Oman in this field.
The two sides discussed ways to boost tourist flows, establish direct connections between tourism organizations and private sector entities, implement joint projects, and organize promotional activities.
Minister Salim bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi expressed Oman’s readiness to strengthen cooperation with Azerbaijan, emphasizing the importance of experience sharing in cultural heritage preservation and sustainable tourism development. He described Azerbaijan as an attractive destination for Omani tourists and welcomed the growing reciprocal visits and exchanges between the two countries.
Both officials agreed to further strengthen people-to-people ties through participation in future tourism exhibitions, media and promotional visits, and cultural events.
