Madinah Welcomes Over 14.1 Million Visitors in 2023, Marking a 124% Increase Since 2014

Madinah, The Gulf Observer: Official statistics released by the Madinah Development Authority have revealed that the city received over 14.1 million visitors in 2023, reflecting a significant 124 percent increase compared to 2014. The data underscores Madinah’s growing prominence as a key tourist and religious destination within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Visitor spending reached an impressive SR49 billion last year, with the average length of stay for visitors extending to 10 days. Many visitors choose to spend additional time praying at the Prophet’s Mosque and visiting other sacred sites, such as the Quba Mosque, historical mosques, and archaeological landmarks associated with the life of the Prophet Muhammad.

The tourism sector in Madinah has witnessed remarkable growth over the past decade, positioning the city as one of the Kingdom’s most important destinations for pilgrims and tourists alike. To further enrich the spiritual and cultural experience of visitors, the Madinah Development Authority is working with partners to prepare over 100 sites, enhancing the pilgrimage experience and promoting religious tourism.

This initiative aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030’s Guests of Rahman Program, which aims to enhance services for pilgrims and deepen their connection to the religious and cultural heritage of the region.
