President Prabowo Inaugurates Seven Special Advisors at State Palace
Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto officially inaugurated seven special presidential advisors at a ceremony held at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday. The appointments were based on Presidential Decree Number 140P of 2024, which outlines the selection of special advisors to the president.
The inauguration was conducted in accordance with the decree, which was read by Ninik Purwanti, Deputy for Apparatus Administrative Affairs of the Ministry of State Secretary. “With the grace of God Almighty, the president of the Republic of Indonesia considers, decides, and determines the appointment of special presidential advisors,” Purwanti announced.
The seven advisors appointed to assist the president are distinguished experts from various fields, providing strategic guidance in key areas of governance. The new advisors include:
- General (ret.) Wiranto, S.H., M.M. – Special Advisor for Politics and Security
- General (ret.) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan – Special Advisor for Digitalization and Government Technology
- General (ret.) Prof. Dr. Dudung Abudrachman, S.E., M.M. – Special Advisor for National Defense, Chairman of the Defense Industry Policy Committee
- Bambang Permadi Soemantri Brodjonegoro – Special Advisor for Economic Affairs and National Development
- Prof. Ir. Purnomo Yusgiantoro, M.Sc., M.A. – Special Advisor for Energy
- Muhadjir Effendy – Special Advisor for Hajj
- Lieutenant General (ret.) Prof. Dr. dr. Terawan Agus Putranto, Sp.Rad(K) – Special Advisor for National Health
This appointment follows the issuance of Presidential Regulation Number 137 of 2024, signed by Indonesia’s 7th President Joko Widodo on October 18, 2024. The regulation outlines the roles and responsibilities of presidential special advisors, presidential special envoys, and other appointed staff. These advisors are tasked with providing expert guidance on specific matters directly assigned by the president, complementing the work of ministries and other government agencies.
In addition to these appointments, President Prabowo Subianto also inaugurated 48 ministers and 55 deputy ministers for the 2024-2029 Red and White Cabinet at the Merdeka Palace on October 21, 2024.
The newly appointed special advisors are expected to contribute significantly to President Prabowo’s administration, supporting Indonesia’s strategic initiatives in politics, defense, digitalization, economic development, energy, and public health.
