Min Aung Hlaing Inspects Technological Universities and Development Projects in Yangon Region

Yangon, The Gulf Observer: Chairman of the State Administration Council, Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by Council Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo, council members, the Chief Minister of Yangon Region, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, and the Commander of the Yangon Command, conducted an inspection tour of the Information Technology University and the Western Yangon Technological University in Yangon Region yesterday morning.
During his visit to the Information Technology University in Hline Township, the Senior General was briefed by Rector Dr. Saw Sanda Aye on the transition of Yangon University of Computer Studies into the Information Technology University. The report covered training programs, opportunities for students to pursue postgraduate studies both domestically and internationally, student participation from various regions and states, workplace internships, employment prospects, academic paper submissions to the International Conference on Advanced Information Technologies (ICAIT), and the progress of university building construction. Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Myo Thein Kyaw supplemented the report with additional information.
Emphasizing the importance of student welfare, the Senior General instructed that accommodations in hostels be systematically managed and that proper housing facilities be provided for academic staff. He also stressed the significance of maintaining the fine traditions of Yangon University (Bahan Campus) and urged officials to implement academic measures that benefit the State while enhancing the beauty of the university campus.
The Senior General proceeded to inspect the digital library system, AI-integrated training programs, student practical sessions at K-Lab, and the construction of supporting buildings. He provided necessary guidance to university officials during his tour.
Later, at the Western Yangon Technological University, the Senior General reviewed the progress of directives issued during his previous inspection in 2024. Rector Dr. Kyi Soe presented updates on the construction of additional university buildings, the strategic zoning of university areas, the master plan for a recreation center, and campus beautification initiatives.
In response, the Senior General instructed officials to enhance university facilities in the upcoming academic year, ensuring that new buildings align with the university’s identity. He also recommended extensive landscaping with flowery plants and trees to create an appealing environment. Subsequently, he inspected the progress of a three-story lecture building, the construction of lecture halls, and a stadium.
At Bayintnaung Park, the Chief Minister of Yangon Region and the Mayor briefed the Senior General on the execution of development plans in line with his previous guidance. The report highlighted the construction of multipurpose buildings, event parks, car parks, playgrounds, swimming pools, and public recreational facilities at Bayintnaung Park in Hlinethaya Township, as well as the organization of public funfairs and sanitation initiatives.
The Senior General, upon reviewing the updates, identified key areas requiring further improvements. He stressed the necessity of efficient water flow management, proper street lighting installation, and the development of a well-structured drainage system throughout Hlinethaya Township. He also underscored the need for pedestrian walkways that meet safety standards, particularly for the large workforce employed in local factories. Additionally, he urged the implementation of comprehensive urban development plans to enhance the township’s environmental sustainability and overall cleanliness.
Following his discussions, the Senior General inspected the drainage infrastructure in Hlinethaya Township and provided necessary directives to officials for further improvements.
