UBD and Curtin University Malaysia Forge Strategic Academic and Research Partnership

Bandar Seri Begawan, The Gulf Observer: Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and Curtin University Malaysia have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen academic and research cooperation, marking a significant step toward advancing higher education and innovation in the region.

The signing ceremony, held at UBD, was officiated by UBD Vice-Chancellor Dr Hazri bin Haji Kifle and Professor Dr Vincent Lee Chieng Chen, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer of Curtin University Malaysia. Also present to witness the occasion were UBD Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Research, Innovation and Sustainability) Dr Haji Abdul Hanif bin Dato Paduka Haji Mahadi and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Science at Curtin University Malaysia, Professor Dr Tuong-Thuy Vu.

Dr Hazri expressed his optimism about the collaboration, noting, “This partnership with Curtin University Malaysia reflects our shared commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and regional impact. With Curtin as one of our closest neighbours, we see immense potential in working together to empower our students and researchers, and co-create solutions that serve our communities and the wider region.”

Echoing this sentiment, Professor Dr Vincent Lee stated, “It is an honour to formalise this partnership with UBD. This MoU is more than just an agreement – it is a shared vision for progress. By working together, we will create transformative opportunities for students, faculty and researchers, shaping the future of education and innovation in the region.”

The partnership aims to enhance collaboration in key academic and research areas, promote joint programmes, and facilitate knowledge sharing, training, and innovation across borders.
