Moroccan Athlete Kalthoum Akhlouf Wins Gold at 6th Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh

Rabat, The Gulf Observer: Moroccan athlete Kalthoum Akhlouf clinched the gold medal on Friday in the women’s 45-50 kg Muay Thai category at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games, currently underway in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Akhlouf secured the title after a commanding victory against Iran’s Fershteh Hasan Zadeh Mirsadghi, winning 30-27 in the final fight held at Boulevard Arena. The Moroccan champion dominated all rounds of the match, earning perfect scores of 10/10 from the judges in each round, while her Iranian opponent received 9/9.
With this triumph, Morocco’s medal tally at the Games rose to seven, comprising two gold, two silver, and three bronze medals.
Morocco is participating in Riyadh with a delegation of 76 athletes competing across 12 sports, including athletics, judo, karate, taekwondo, wrestling, Muay Thai, jiu-jitsu, duathlon, para powerlifting, e-sports, futsal, and sports for people with disabilities.
The Islamic Solidarity Games, organized by the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF), bring together athletes from member countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to promote unity, cooperation, and cultural exchange through sports.
The 2025 edition in Riyadh features dozens of sports and hosts thousands of athletes from across the Muslim world. Scheduled to run until 21 November, competitions are being held at multiple venues across the Saudi capital, aiming to showcase athletic talent, strengthen international ties, and encourage youth participation in sports.
