Morocco to Develop Three New Industrial Zones in Casablanca-Settat Region

Morocco

Rabat, The Gulf Observer: Morocco is set to strengthen its industrial sector with the development of three new industrial zones in the Casablanca-Settat region, covering a total area of 1,144 hectares.

The agreements provide for the establishment of three industrial zones, including a 660-hectare zone in Mohammedia, which will be developed in three phases. In Benslimane province, two additional zones will be created in Moualine El Oued (350 hectares) and Ain Tizgha (134 hectares).

The projects are in line with royal directives aimed at enhancing Morocco’s productive capacity and strengthening the country’s industrial sovereignty.

Partnership agreements for the initiative were signed on Saturday at the Wilaya headquarters in Casablanca-Settat during a ceremony attended by Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour, Wali of Casablanca-Settat Mohamed Mhidia, President of the Regional Council Abdellatif Maazouz, as well as several governors and senior officials.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Mezzour said the new industrial zones are expected to create more than 35,000 jobs while addressing the growing demand for industrial and logistics land in the region.

Regional Council President Abdellatif Maazouz described the initiative as a significant step toward expanding industrial infrastructure across the Casablanca-Settat region. He added that the projects would attract a large number of investors by offering industrial land at competitive prices.

The development of the zones will be led by MEDZ, a subsidiary of the CDG Group, in collaboration with the ministries of industry and economy, regional authorities, urban development agencies, and the provinces concerned.

MEDZ General Manager Marouane Abdelati said the first phases of the projects are expected to generate around 20,000 jobs, highlighting their strong potential to support Morocco’s economic growth and reinforce its position as a competitive industrial hub.
