Muscat Flower Festival Blooms at Qurum Natural Park, Showcasing Over One Million Flowers
Muscat, The Gulf Observer: The Muscat Flower Festival, now underway at Qurum Natural Park, is enchanting visitors with a dazzling display of colours and fragrances. The festival, which opened on December 23, 2024, as part of the Muscat Nights Festival, features over one million flowers from more than 20 countries, including the USA, the Netherlands, Kenya, Malaysia, and South America. This vibrant event continues until January 21, 2025, offering a stunning fusion of nature and design.
Inaugurated by Ahmed Al Humaidi, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, the festival marks a significant milestone as the first-ever floral event organized by the municipality. The concept, revived in 2023 and presented to Al Humaidi, was warmly welcomed, leading to the collaboration with the renowned Pico Group of Singapore, known for their expertise in large-scale floral showcases.
Hanan Al Shuraiqi, an engineer at the Landscaping and Parks Department and the festival supervisor, highlighted the international and local collaboration behind the event. “We floated tenders and selected Pico Group based on their experience in this field,” she said. The festival’s floral designs were developed in partnership with both international and Omani designers, including Madhavi Khimji of Oman.
Barnabas Chia, Project Director of Pico Group, expressed his pride in being part of the event, stating, “We are honoured to curate and produce this unique showcase in Muscat, celebrating the city’s natural beauty and vibrant community. We hope the festival becomes a cherished tradition and a key feature of the Muscat Nights calendar.”
Beyond its visual appeal, the festival also serves as a platform for community engagement, involving 50 local SMEs specializing in flowers. This initiative underscores Muscat Municipality’s commitment to supporting local businesses and enhancing the event’s cultural and economic impact.
Madhavi Khimji, reflecting on the festival’s cultural significance, noted, “The Muscat Flower Festival expresses the spirit of the Sultanate of Oman and celebrates its rich hospitality.”
The festival is open daily from 4:00 PM to midnight at Qurum Natural Park, with activities also hosted at various other locations, including Al Naseem Public Park, Al Amerat Public Park, Seeb Beach, Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, and Wadi Al Khoud.
Visitors to the festival can immerse themselves in a world of botanical beauty and creativity, making it a must-see event during the Muscat Nights Festival.
