Myanmar Earthquake: Widespread Aid Distribution Underway Following Mandalay Quake

Mandalay, The Gulf Observer: Following the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Mandalay on 28 March, sweeping destruction across several regions of Myanmar, the government has rolled out a comprehensive emergency response involving impact assessments, rescue efforts, and the distribution of international humanitarian aid.
The tremor severely affected the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, Sagaing Region, Mandalay Region, Magway Region, Shan State, and Bago Region, prompting a national relief effort coordinated across ministries and local administrations.
Since the night of 29 March, humanitarian supplies have been pouring into Yangon, Nay Pyi Taw, and Mandalay International Airports, as well as the Yangon Thilawa Port. These donations encompass tents, tarpaulins, hygiene kits, food, household goods, generators, sleeping bags, kitchen sets, electrical appliances, and medical and surgical supplies.
Region-Specific Relief Efforts:
- Nay Pyi Taw Council Area: Aid was allocated according to the Council’s structured relief plan, with civil servant families receiving provisions through their respective ministries.
- Mandalay Region: Over 52 vehicles transported aid via Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw, supplemented by direct shipments to Mandalay (TadaU) International Airport. The Mandalay Region Government oversees local distribution.

- Southern Shan State: Aid carried by seven vehicles is being distributed by the Shan State Government.
