Myanmar Holds Dhamma Thabin Ceremony to Mark Buddha Day at Maravijaya Buddha Image

Nay Pyi Taw, The Gulf Observer: A grand Dhamma Thabin ceremony commemorating Buddha Day on the full moon of Kason 1387 ME was held last evening at the Aggadhipati Sasana Beikman, located within the precinct of the Maravijaya Buddha Image in Nay Pyi Taw.
The ceremony was graced by Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council, Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win, along with his wife Daw Than Than Nwe and other dignitaries. The gathering respectfully took the Nine Precepts from State Ovadacariya, Chair of the Shwegyin Nikaya, 16th Shwegyin Sangharaja, and Chancellor of Sitagu International Buddhist Academies and Hospitals, Sitagu Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Nyanissara, and listened to a special Dhammakatha (Buddhist discourse) on the sacred occasion of Buddha Day.
As a gesture of reverence and support, the Vice-Senior General donated cash offerings for the Nine Prerequisites (essential requisites for monks) to the Sayadaw through Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture, U Tin Oo Lwin. In recognition of this offering, the Sitagu Sayadaw presented a certificate of honour to the Vice-Senior General.
In return, the Union Minister also offered a certificate of honour to the Sitagu Sayadaw, who later delivered an inspiring sermon, followed by the sharing of merits among all in attendance.
The event was attended by high-ranking officials, including the Council Secretary and his wife, council members and their spouses, Union-level dignitaries, Union ministers and their wives, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command, and deputy ministers, making the ceremony a deeply reverent and unifying spiritual occasion in Myanmar’s capital.
