Myanmar Hosts Union-Level MSME Product Exhibition and Competition

Nay Pyi Taw, The Gulf Observer: The Union-level MSME Product Exhibition and Competition was inaugurated yesterday at Tabaung Ground, near the Uppatasanti Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw. The ceremony was attended by Chairman of the State Administration Council and Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
The event also saw the participation of SAC Vice-Chairman and Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win, as well as Union Ministers U Win Shein, U Min Naung, U Hla Moe, Dr. Charlie Than, Dr. Myo Thein Kyaw, and Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Than Tun Oo, who collectively cut the ceremonial ribbon to mark the opening of the expo. Senior General Min Aung Hlaing officially inaugurated the event by pressing a button.
During the opening ceremony, attendees enjoyed cultural dance performances celebrating the 78th Anniversary of Union Day. Following the formal proceedings, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and his entourage toured the exhibition, engaging with exhibitors from various ministerial and MSME booths representing different regions and states. Discussions covered topics such as raw material usage, production processes, market expansion, and workplace requirements, with the Senior General providing guidance and support.
In the afternoon, the Senior General visited booths showcasing products from the Mandalay Region, the Ministry of Information, and various organizations including the Myanmar Banks Association, Myanmar Economic Holding Public Company Limited, and the Myanmar Economic Corporation. He also observed displays by the Myanmar Traditional Medicine Producers and Medical Entrepreneurs Association and the Myanmar Oil Millers Association, offering insights on expanding market opportunities domestically and internationally.
The event was attended by key dignitaries, including Daw Than Than Nwe, wife of the Vice-Senior General, Council Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo, council members and their spouses, Union Ministers, Chief Ministers of regions and states, senior Tatmadaw officers, deputy ministers, and other officials.
The exhibition, running from February 10 to 14, aims to strengthen cooperation among MSMEs across regions, identify opportunities for improvement in production chains, and promote high-quality, competitively priced products. It also supports the One Region One Product initiative, encourages import-substitution through value-added products, and fosters collaboration between MSMEs and investors. Model product awards will be presented to outstanding MSMEs to recognize their contributions.
Featuring 96 booths from various ministries, regions, and states, the expo includes traditional food stalls, business matching opportunities, technological showcases, foreign machinery displays, and small-scale industry exhibits. Plans are also in place to distribute digital trophies, certificates, and cash prizes for winners in 31 product competition categories, with cash awards accessible via e-banking through a digital payment system.
