Nearly 900 Humanitarian Aid Trucks Enter Gaza Amid UN Assurances of Stability
Gaza City, The Gulf Observer: Nearly 900 additional humanitarian aid trucks have entered Gaza, raising the total to over 2,400 since the onset of intensified hostilities. The development comes as a senior United Nations official reported no significant law-and-order issues in the besieged enclave.
Muhannad Hadi, the UN’s top humanitarian aid official for Gaza and the occupied West Bank, acknowledged minor incidents of looting in recent days but assured that the situation is stabilizing.
“It’s not organized crime,” Hadi clarified. “Kids jumped on some trucks trying to take food baskets. There were some other people who tried to take bottled water.”
The UN has faced significant challenges in its humanitarian operation during the 15-month conflict, including Israeli military invasions, access restrictions, and sporadic disruptions caused by local armed groups. Despite these hurdles, the agency has continued to deliver aid to the war-torn region.
Hadi expressed optimism that the situation would improve as the flow of aid becomes more consistent.
“Hopefully within a few days, this will all disappear once the people of Gaza realize that we will have aid enough for everybody,” he said.
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has reached critical levels, with the enclave’s residents enduring severe shortages of food, water, and medical supplies. The UN has described its efforts as “opportunistic” due to the ongoing access challenges imposed by Israeli authorities and the volatile security environment.
The international community continues to call for unimpeded humanitarian access and sustained relief efforts to alleviate the suffering of Gaza’s civilian population.
