Oman Advocates Tolerance and Interfaith Dialogue

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: On behalf of His Majesty the Sultan, Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Council of Ministers, welcomed supervisors of places of worship in the Sultanate of Oman in a meeting held on Tuesday.
Emphasizing the essence of true Islamic values, Sayyid Fahd highlighted the Islamic principles of tolerance and coexistence among all religions, rooted in understanding and cooperation to serve humanity.
Sayyid Fahd underscored the rejection of imposing or favoring one religion over another, emphasizing the importance of avoiding violence, killing, and displacement. He expressed concern about the ongoing plight of the Palestinians and denounced such acts as inconsistent with the principles of any religion or sound belief.
The discussion focused on ways to promote joint cooperation among followers of different religions, aiming to enhance awareness, acceptance of others, and dialogue to establish a harmonious societal environment. The meeting emphasized the significance of intensifying gatherings, exchanging expertise, and organizing conferences to foster constructive cooperation among people of diverse faiths, ultimately preserving basic human rights and achieving common interests.
Supervisors from places of worship conveyed their sincere sentiments to His Majesty the Sultan, expressing their appreciation for Oman’s efforts in supporting interfaith dialogue. They lauded the country’s commitment to religious freedom and its moderation policy, acknowledging the positive impact on global respect and recognition. The attendees expressed hope for a return to global normalcy, enabling everyone to enjoy security and stability.
Dr Mohammed Said al Maamari, Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, also attended the meeting, further emphasizing Oman’s commitment to fostering understanding, cooperation, and respect among people of different religious backgrounds.
