Oman Delegation Engages in Human Rights Discussions at Global Conference

Geneva, The Gulf Observer: On Tuesday, a delegation representing the Omani Human Rights Commission (OHRC) actively engaged in the proceedings of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) meetings and conference held in Geneva. Led by Dr. Rashid Hamad Al Balushi, Chairman of the OHRC, Oman’s delegation contributed to discussions surrounding the strategic plan of the Global Alliance, focusing on challenges encountered by national human rights institutions and avenues for bolstering cooperation among regional networks affiliated with GANHRI.

In addition to their participation in the GANHRI conference, Oman’s delegation joined a session of the Executive Committee of the Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions, convened on the sidelines of the main event. The agenda of this meeting centered on the Arab Network’s program for 2024, with particular attention given to recent developments concerning the Palestinian cause. Expressing solidarity with the Independent Commission for Human Rights in the State of Palestine, discussions also delved into strategies for updating the Arab Network’s framework to address evolving challenges and priorities in the field of human rights in the years ahead. This active involvement underscores Oman’s commitment to global and regional cooperation in advancing the principles of human rights and underscores the nation’s dedication to promoting dialogue and collaboration in this critical domain.
