Oman to Showcase Pavilion at 60th Venice International Art Biennale 2024

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman will participate with its own pavilion at the esteemed 60th Venice International Art Biennale 2024, titled “Foreigners Everywhere,” commencing on Friday, April 19, 2024. The pavilion’s inauguration ceremony will be graced by HH Sayyid Dr. Kamil bin Fahd Al Said, Secretary-General at the Secretariat General of the Council of Ministers.

Established in 1895, the Venice Biennale stands as one of the world’s premier international art events, held biennially to showcase the finest works of art from across the globe. With the theme “Foreigners Everywhere,” the 60th edition of the Biennale offers Oman a unique platform to showcase its rich artistic heritage on the global stage.

Oman’s independent pavilion, spanning an area of 300 square meters, occupies a prestigious location near the historic Piazza San Marco in Venice. This prime location provides Omani artists with a distinguished platform to exhibit their works independently, fostering global recognition and appreciation for Omani artistry and cultural identity.

The participation in the Venice Biennale aligns with Oman’s broader strategy to enhance its global influence and cultural diplomacy efforts. The pavilion is anticipated to draw approximately 2,000 visitors daily, offering a significant opportunity to showcase the diversity and talent of Omani artists to an international audience.

The Omani delegation to the biennale will include prominent artists such as Alia Al Farsi, Dr. Ali Al Jabri, Issa Al Mufarji, Adham Al Farsi, and Sarah Al Awlaki, who will present their innovative works to captivate and inspire visitors.

In addition to the exhibition, the Sultanate of Oman will organize special programs and workshops focusing on modern art during the biennale. These initiatives aim to facilitate cultural exchange and dialogue, fostering collaboration and mutual understanding among participating nations.

The Sultanate of Oman’s participation in the 60th Venice International Art Biennale underscores its commitment to promoting artistic expression and cultural exchange on the global stage. Through its pavilion, Oman seeks to enrich the global art discourse, celebrate its cultural heritage, and forge lasting connections with the international artistic community.
