Oman’s National Museum launches website in Chinese language
Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Oman’s National Museum, in collaboration with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, inaugurated the National Museum’s website in Chinese language.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Jamal bin Hassan al Moosawi, Secretary General of the National Museum, H E Li Lingbing, the accredited Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Sultanate of Oman, and Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Mohammed al Hosni, the Head of the Asia and Pacific Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in addition to a number of officials and individuals interested in the cultural aspect.
The ceremony included a special tour for guests through various galleries of the National Museum, such as the Maritime History Gallery, the Land of Frankincense Gallery, Splendours of Islam Gallery, and Oman and the World Gallery, introducing them to distinctive artefacts that embody the longstanding Omani-Chinese relations throughout history.
Jamal bin Hassan al Moosawi, the Secretary General of the National Museum, stated, “The launch of the Chinese-language version of the National Museum’s website is part of enhancing cultural cooperation between the National Museum and the Embassy of the Republic of China. This initiative serves as a window for Chinese speakers among tourists and residents to explore the cultural heritage of Oman across successive historical periods, contributing to the revival of cultural and museum tourism in Oman in general and the National Museum in particular. It represents an opportunity to introduce the vital role of the museum and its important events and diverse activities.”
H E Li Lingbing of the Republic of China to the Sultanate of Oman said in her speech, “In recent years, economic, trade, and cultural exchanges between China and Oman have witnessed significant and profound development. Oman, with its beauty and civilisation, has attracted an increasing number of Chinese tourists.”
She added, “The Chinese-language website of the National Museum will be a new window for the Chinese people to get to know Oman, and it will help attract more Chinese visitors to travel to it.”
It is worth mentioning that the National Museum’s website features various technical and artistic characteristics that allow users to access different sections of the site. These include a user-friendly interface, consistent design reflecting its identity and mission, ease of navigation and use, and compatibility with various browsers and smart devices.
The website also includes interactive services such as maps and a virtual tour (360) that guide users through various galleries containing numerous artefacts. Additionally, it serves as a reliable source for internet users to access news, activities, and events related to the Museum, as well as to learn about its significant releases.
