Over 50,000 Visitors Attend First Five Days of 2025 Liwa Dates Festival

Liwa City, The Gulf Observer: The 2025 Liwa Dates Festival, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, welcomed 50,225 visitors during its first five days.
Organised by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, the 21st edition of the festival continues until 27th July in Liwa City, located in the Al Dhafra Region.
Recognised as one of the UAE’s premier cultural events, the Liwa Dates Festival serves as a vital platform to celebrate palm heritage and traditional agriculture. It plays an instrumental role in supporting the agricultural sector and food security, making it a highly anticipated annual event among farmers and the wider community.
The festival hosts 24 competitions, offering a total of 308 prizes valued at AED 8.735 million, alongside stage competitions designed to entertain and engage visitors.
The event underscores Abu Dhabi’s ongoing commitment to preserving and promoting Emirati heritage, particularly the cultural and social significance of the palm tree and date harvest season.
Drawing visitors and tourists from across the UAE and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the festival provides a richly traditional and interactive experience, supporting local farmers and offering family-friendly activities in a culturally immersive setting.
