Party Chief Tô Lâm Attends High-Level Seminar on Artificial Intelligence and Technology in London

London, The Gulf Observer: Party General Secretary Tô Lâm, accompanied by a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, attended a seminar with leading global strategists on artificial intelligence (AI) and technology in London on Monday, as part of his official visit to the United Kingdom.
The seminar, co-organised by the Boston Global Forum (BGF), served as a strategic platform to enhance cooperation between Việt Nam and major technology powers in the era of AI, reaffirming the country’s growing role in global digital transformation.
With aspirations to become a pioneer in the digital economy, Việt Nam seeks to learn from the UK – the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution and home to renowned thinkers such as Isaac Newton, John Locke, Adam Smith, Alan Turing, William Shakespeare, and Charles Dickens – to build an innovative, human-centred, and sustainable technological ecosystem.
In his opening remarks, General Secretary Lâm expressed his pleasure at engaging with leading experts and strategists in London. He highlighted that the world is undergoing extraordinary technological advancements, with AI emerging as a major driver of innovation and economic growth.
“Việt Nam has identified science, technology, and digital transformation as key breakthroughs to achieve rapid and sustainable development and elevate its position in the global value chain,” the Party leader stated. He underscored Việt Nam’s desire to collaborate with advanced nations to promote shared visions and values, building a future where AI serves humanity and fosters creativity, compassion, peace, and prosperity.
Technology experts at the seminar commended Việt Nam’s dynamic progress, noting that within one generation, the nation has lifted millions out of poverty, developed one of Asia’s most competitive manufacturing sectors, and cultivated a young, digitally skilled workforce. They also highlighted Việt Nam’s administrative reforms and openness to international partnerships, which have established it as a trusted partner in the global digital community.
Experts emphasized that for AI to truly benefit socio-economic development, governments must prioritise building reliable digital infrastructure and establishing responsible AI frameworks that protect privacy, fairness, and transparency.
Concluding the event, General Secretary Lâm expressed appreciation for the insights and recommendations shared, noting that many align closely with Việt Nam’s strategic development goals. He said relevant Vietnamese agencies would study the proposed solutions and pursue collaborative projects to put them into practice.
The Party leader affirmed that the seminar represents a meaningful beginning, laying the foundation for long-term, substantive cooperation between Việt Nam and leading UK and international institutions in the field of AI and technology.
He also outlined three priority areas for future collaboration: sharing knowledge and experience in formulating a national AI strategy and developing digital infrastructure and innovation ecosystems; promoting investment, technology transfer, and AI application in key sectors such as healthcare, smart agriculture, and digital education; and jointly implementing major science and technology initiatives, particularly in emerging and pioneering fields, to help Việt Nam build a creative and self-reliant economy.
General Secretary Lâm extended an invitation to leading scientists and experts in science, technology, and AI to visit Việt Nam for direct exchanges and cooperation with policymakers and research institutions. Such engagements, he said, would transform ideas discussed at the seminar into concrete actions, contributing to new values and confidence for humanity in the age of artificial intelligence.
